Nia Technique
Nia is a Body-Mind-Spirit Fitness Program based on three arts: Dance Arts, Martial Arts, and Healing Arts. It combines nine unique movement forms that when integrated deliver a safe, effective cardiovascular workout with total body conditioning and personal growth benefits. Designed for all levels of fitness, Nia compliments Yoga, Pilates, running, weight lifting, boxing, and more! The music of Nia, eclectic and universal is a backdrop for self expression and exploration. The movements are adaptable and can be personalized for any level of fitness. No prior training is necessary. Everyone is welcome. Classes led by certified Nia Teachers.
Why should you practice Nia?
Because it will change your body and life! Nia has spent the last twenty-two years developing a safe holistic fitness program that addresses more than the body. Practicing Nia is a way for you to learn about yourself. You will learn how to integrate your body, mind, emotions, and spirit into everything you do to become more expressive, dynamic, interesting, creative, and somatically-educated. Practicing Nia means you will learn to attract pleasure, become more multidimensional, and move safely and efficiently.
Yoga
These classes are designed for students new to yoga as well as students continuing
to build a solid base for their yoga practice. It doesn't matter how
stiff you are or if you've never done Yoga before. The classes are never
competitive. Silence, acceptance, and awareness are used to relax the body
and calm the mind.
Andalusi Dance
This class is a combination of Pilates, Belly Dance
and Flamenco, inspired by the dance forms widely practiced in
southern Spain. It is a grounding, chakra energizing and liberating
experience that will bring out the gypsy heart from within.
It is designed to give everyone the opportunity to
experience the spirit and fire of the union of Arabic and Spanish
dance forms, while still being gentle to your joints.
Inner
Rhythms
Ecstatic Dance Practice for Women
Inner Rhythms is
a movement practice designed to encourage the exploration
of Space, Self and Other through movement and mindfulness.
By blending improvised movement with the mental practice
of meditation, the body/mind connection becomes the source
for dance.
The music will include a wide variety of styles to encourage
spontaneous playfulness and creativity. The class borrows
from other forms of ecstatic dance yet will have it's own
unique flavor.
The Practice requires no particular skill, training
or facility in movement or dance. Rather it calls for curiosity, respect,
honesty, and a little bit of courage to face the unknown.
